Tue, Jun 07, 2011TAIWAN - The United States may have a document to show that Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the Republic of China, had US citizenship, but his birth in China's Guangdong Province remains an undisputable truth, an official from the ruling Kuomintang (KMT) said yesterday.His Hawaiian birth certificate was an expedient measure taken when he was in the thick of the revolution to overthrow the Ching Dynasty, Shao Ming-huang, curator of the KMT Historical Archive, said yesterday.
According to a spokeswoman for the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), Sun Yat-sen was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, as attested by a 1904 official US immigration document.
The fate of the revolution was in the balance in 1904, a decade after Sun's founding of the Revive China Society, when some overseas Chinese leaders suggested to him he had better obtain US citizenship if he wanted to move about freely and to continue seeking support for his revolution in the United States, Shao said.Sun was then a wanted man in China and was harassed by royalists in the United States, he added.
Some overseas Chinese leaders and Sun's relatives in San Francisco worked together to help Sun secure a Hawaiian birth certificate and, subsequently, a US citizenship, Shao continued.
"This is of course an expedient measure adopted in the interest of the revolution. As such, it cannot change the fact that he was born in Tsui-heng Vilage," Shao was quoted as saying.
Chinese historians generally accept that Sun Yat-sen was born on November 12, 1866 in Tsui-heng Village, Hsiang-shan County in China's Guangdong Province.According to Sheila Paskman, the AIT spokeswoman, a document issued by the US Immigration Agency, found in the US National Archive, shows that Sun was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. As such, Sun was a US citizen and could freely enter and exit the United States, she said.
The document will be displayed in a July 4 "Dr. sun Yat-sen and the United States" exhibition to mark the centenary of founding of the R.O.C., Paskman continued, adding the United States is trying to get hold of Dr. Sun's Honolulu birth certificate.
Sun was in Hawaii from age 13 till 17 as a young student, and that's why he chose to apply for his US birth document there, Shao said, adding the date "November 14, 1870" was chosen to signify the foundation of Sun's Revive China Society on November 14, 1904.
Dr. Sun attended the Oahu College, now renamed Punahou School, in Honolulu while he was there. US President Barack Obama also is an alumnus of the school.

I have to guess that either you are not an American citizen or you skipped your American History classes.
The reason there has not been such outcry over this issue before is that all other Presidents were easily able to show that they were American cotozens; most of them were born within the borders of the USA to parents who were also citizens by birth.
Obama openly defies the requirements of the Constitution he vowed to protect and defend.
*Qualifications for the Office of President
Age and Citizenship requirements - US Constitution, Article II, Section 1:
No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.
Term limit amendment - US Constitution, Amendment XXII, Section 1 - ratified February 27, 1951:
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

Why would an honest person who is seeking a political office which obligates them to "defend and protect the constitution of the United States" speand so much time and effort to avoid answering the question?
It is THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES that requires that the President be a natural born citizen of the US. This is THE LAW.
Who wants a President who is a lair and a criminal? Raise your hand. If these "identity" issues are proven valid, then we have a person in the highest public office who began conspiring many years ago to commit multiple frauds. Did all this schemeing come from him, or is he being used by some shadow person or shadow organization, and for what purpose?

SURVEY: Is a JWN members post count a reasonable indicator of their theist/atheist position? If so what can be learned from that?
by nicolaou ini've done no research on this but i suspect that a members belief or absence of belief in god may have some correspondence with the number of posts he or she has made.. my tentative suggestion is that members with fewer than 500 posts are mostly believers while members with more than 3000 posts are mostly non-believers.
of course there are exceptions, maybe quite a few, but i'm only dealing with generalities here.
so how about a survey?

As for your theory, the number of posts is a rough indicator of how long a person has been thinking for themseelves, since True Believer™ Dubs wouln't be here at all, or will only lurk until they gain the self-confidence and courage to make that first post. I believe that the longer a person thinks over what the WTB&TS has taught them, the more likely they are to discard those teachings.
The point has been made before that most theists are only "one (or two) god(s) away" from being atheists. For example, Christians usually do not consider Allah, Vishnu or Odin to be valid "gods." Or the Christian may claim that Allah, Vishnu and Odin are really "anti-gods" - the gods of FALSE, demonic, satanic religion.
Most theists believe in a good "god" and a bad "god." Some might say that the "bad god" doesn't exist, but that separation from the "good god" is the source of evil. Whatever. If a person come to view his previous belief in dueling gods or a single lone god as unrealistic, he is an atheist.
To my mind, people who say hey are "agnostic" are simply trying to please everyone by not appearing "confrontational." Sitting on the fence is too painful for me. There is no objective, verifiable evidence that any spirit creatures exist or that "hidden realms are anything other than ideas or delusions.
Theists can be no more certain of their world-view than atheists, so in a very broad sense we all "DON'T KNOW" and are thus AGNOSTIC.
Let's agree to flip a two-sided coin. Does it come up GOD or NO GOD? Our coin has no thickness, so it cannot land on its edge.
